Co-operation

On the initiative of Carlos Dewulf Leiva, son of a Chilean mother and an Ostend father who emigrated to Chile in the years 40, a group of fire-fighters of the province of Antwerp began a co-operation with their Chilean colleagues, to help less privileged towns in Chile. The organization is supported by Belgian fire-fighters who donate all end-of-life equipment or sell them for a minimum price. The donated material includes vehicles, life-saving equipment, fire-hoses, compressors, generators, protection clothes…

In recent years, more than 200 vehicles are transferred and are saving the lives of hundreds of people in Chile.

Help on a permanent manner the Chilean people in need and support us by donating material or a contribution on the account of SOS-Chile.

In this way you give us the means to provide assistance to the Chilean population!

Fire-truck hotel school “Ter Groene Poorte”

In January 2010, the pupils of the 7th specialization year liquor knowledge went on a “wine trip” to Chile and wanted to link it to a social project. They’ve chosen to sponsor a fire-truck and to deliver it to the Chilean town of Pichidegua. This town was selected because Vina Santa, the main sponsor of the trip, has several vineyards in that region. In Bruges, on the 3rd December 2009, the social project was presented in the presence of ambassador Carlos Appelgren and governor Paul Breyne. The team of Stéphane Santy of ESI fire-brigade arranged the purchase and the shipment of the fire-truck. “It was for our school a particular pleasant experience to co-operate with the professional organization of ESI”, says José Lemahieu.
